Marble LDN is a global experience agency representing change makers, championing connection and positive impact for human kind. We create campaigns without borders, farsighted thought leadership and meaningful brand experiences that connect people, place and planet. Underpinned by insights, we use data to show the importance of human connection and its impact on the world around us.

Sustainability is big on our agenda, we embed it into the entire creative process so that it becomes a living, breathing part of the experience. On a practical level, we achieve this through our Sustainable Event Management System (SEMS), which meets the requirements of ISO 20121:2012 (International Standard for Event Sustainability) and ISO 14001:2015 (International Standard for Environmental Management).

We aim to work with other like-minded change makers who genuinely want to make a difference and leave the world in a better place. The events industry can be exceptionally wasteful and we’re working to combat this in several ways including re-using event elements, avoiding single-use plastic and using reclaimed materials. Our launch night for The Other House South Kensington didn’t use any single-use plastic or bespoke built elements, and we planted a tree for each of the 900 guests who attended. Pergola Paraiso, a Tulum-inspired paradise we created in Paddington Centra, also didn’t use any plastic and had a strong focus on reclaimed materials. Our Absolut Trash catwalk for London Fashion Week (LFW) 2019 was shortlisted for Best Sustainable Initiative at the C&IT Awards; we used rubbish from LFW parties and backstage offcuts, recycled materials from local bars, and ocean plastic to create the runway. On a bigger picture level, we embed thinking about the environmental, social and economic impacts of our work into the planning stages of our projects, thinking about how we can reduce negative impacts and measure sustainability performance so that we see improvement year on year.

This ethos is reflected in our office culture too. Team Green is our internal employee led sustainability group which takes on the mission of educating, inspiring and challenging how we all practice sustainable living on an individual level and as a collective. Each month Team Green focuses on a different aspect of living that is impacting or contributing to climate change, posing a challenge to everyone at Marble to take small steps to being more green and bringing in external business and experts to better educate us all on good practice.

The mission is this: engage with clients, suppliers and everyone in between to identify event sustainability hotspots as an integrated part of the event management cycle, implement the best sustainable solution and measure performance, and evaluate and reduce our carbon footprint in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the Science Based Target Initiative, setting a meaningful timeline to achieve net zero.

We do this by adopting a partnership approach with suppliers to source innovative sustainability solutions. We also minimise environmental impacts of travelling through car sharing, the use of public transport and avoiding flying where possible and repurpose materials to prevent waste and support a circular economy. Our people are key. We promote diversity, equality and inclusion through our recruitment and career progression programmes and our supplier and artist selection processes.

Together, we can use our creative skills to mobilise and amplify positive change and be a ‘force for good;’ actively supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where we can make the biggest difference.
