The centre’s flagship conference room the Churchill is fitted with an LED star cloth and ceiling-mounted moving lights to add glamour and glitz to award ceremonies and parties. QEII responded to the demands from its tech-savvy clients and invested £500,000 in upgrading its AV facilities across the centre, including a quad-resolution video wall to provide more exciting branding opportunities for clients, an induction loop system for audio and high definition laser projection.

With the QEII Centre regularly attracting high profile and large-scale technology conferences and events, connectivity is key. The centre recently upgraded to AV Wave Two technology for its free-to-access WiFi at a cost of £50,000 and spent £80,000 on a fibre optic backbone and intelligent switching devices.

A new in-house IPTV system enables sound and vision to be relayed anywhere within the centre at minimum cost. This is particularly beneficial to event organisers hosting full centre takeover events, as it allows content from different plenaries to be streamed throughout the centre, giving delegates access to all of the content from the event.

QEII is able to offer live streaming to an external audience and filming to make content available for download, extending the lifetime of an event and allowing international companies to reach a worldwide audience.

The most recent improvements to the QEII Centre’s technology services include two new 12k laser projectors in the Churchill room, combined with an extended set and borderless screen; four new floating laser projectors; a new screen, AV booth and D&B audio system in the sixth-floor Mountbatten room and upgrades to the PA system on the third floor.
