Green weddings aren’t a trend anymore, rather they’re a decision couples are making before they’ve chosen a venue. New search data from April 2025 to March 2026 shows eco-conscious planning accelerating across 56 keywords, with the sharpest growth in exactly the areas couples care about most: where they marry, what they serve, and how they decorate. Nick Bramer., Co-owner and Marketing Director of Country House Weddings, shares what the numbers really mean.

Key Takeaways

  • +200%  surge in searches for ‘eco friendly wedding venue’ in just three months
  • +100%  ‘vegan wedding catering UK’, which doubled year-on-year and in the past quarter
  • +39%   year-on-year growth for ‘biodegradable wedding confetti’ (720 searches/month)
  • +33%   ‘sustainable wedding’ searches up in the past three months
  • +26%   year-on-year growth for ‘digital wedding invitations’ — the highest-volume eco term at 1,900/month
  • 4,510  total monthly searches tracked across all eco wedding keywords

“Couples are Googling sustainability before they’ve even chosen a venue. That shift tells us the industry needs to meet them where they are.” â€” Nick, Country House Weddings

Where the Growth Is

Eco friendly wedding venues is the keyword that is the standout mover, up 200% in three months and 50% year-on-year. Volume is still modest at 40 searches per month, but these are high-intent couples actively looking for a venue that matches their values, in a low-competition space. Early movers will benefit most.

Vegan wedding catering is the clearest sustained growth story: 210 searches per month at low competition, with the UK-specific variant doubling in a year. Couples want plant-based menus from British venues who know how to deliver them beautifully and most aren’t finding the answer yet.

Digital wedding invitations bridge eco and convenience. With 1,900 monthly searches and 26% year-on-year growth, this is the gateway eco choice,  often the first sustainable swap couples make. Venues and suppliers appearing here are meeting eco-conscious couples right at the start of their planning journey.

Biodegradable confetti (720 searches/month, +39% YoY) signals that eco thinking enters the planning process earlier than the industry typically assumes. If couples are already making green choices on confetti, they are almost certainly applying the same lens to their venue, food, and flowers.

On the YoY Declines

Several headline terms such as ‘sustainable wedding venue’ (-79%), ‘sustainable wedding’ (-76%), show steep year-on-year falls. This reflects a 2024 baseline inflated by post-pandemic media coverage, not a genuine retreat. Three-month trends for the same terms are flat or rising, and Nick’s read is simple:

“Sustainability isn’t a trend that peaked, rather it’s a value that became embedded. Couples aren’t searching for ‘sustainable’ because it’s already baked into every other decision they make.” â€” Nick

The Bottom Line

The fastest-moving terms in this dataset: ‘eco-friendly wedding venue’ up 200%, ‘vegan catering UK’ doubling, ‘zero waste ideas’ appearing from nowhere, all tell a consistent story: eco-conscious planning is accelerating, not fading.

The couples searching these terms aren’t compromising on beauty. They’re defining what beauty means to them, and sustainability is part of the answer.
