Following the venues reopening in 2016, after an extensive two-year closure and £30 million renovations, IET London: Savoy Place is recognised as one of London’s finest venues for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) events.

As a Global Engineering Hub, accessibility and connectivity are at the heart of everything the IET values. The venue is also the UK headquarters for the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), with Savoy Place renowned for its technological and digital production capabilities.

Central to this is an advanced digital ‘fibre core’ infrastructure embedded throughout the building, this ensures the standard tech offering is superior and, most importantly, well placed to cope with future technology trends and client expectations.

Through a 500MB bandwidth, available up to 2GB capacity, Savoy Place is also able to support multiple devices concurrently connecting to its Wi-Fi during an event.

The venue is proud of its engineering past, present and future and celebrate this with a series of exhibits throughout the historic building at Savoy Place. These exhibits, in particular, the ‘100 engineering ideas that changed the world’, and ‘digital chandelier’ hanging in reception, have the ability to be branded around each event. In addition to this, the venue has the flexibility and capacity to:

Link the two lecture theatres to create a mega lecture with capacity for 626 – rooms can stream between each other and have Q&A sessions

  • Dedicated floor boxes in all meeting rooms and lecture theatres for tv or external AV companies to connect film cameras directly to the central Tricatser for live streaming and filming
  • 76  x IPTV screens around the building allow the IET to stream lectures, video clips and logos to any screen in the building
  • Electronic banner system in the Kelvin Lecture Theatre to hoist client’s fabric banners

New AV equipment and production lighting fitted in the Kelvin Lecture Theatre, consisting of 10 moving head lights, means the theatre can now offer lighting support for higher-spec events, awards and conferences.

Savoy Place is always evolving, digital upgrades earlier this year included replacing the 100 inch LED walls with a 140 inch projector wall in the Exhibition Room and Watson Watt, which also features added PIP (Picture in Picture) software.

Located on London’s Embankment, Savoy Place offers some of the best views across the capital from its roof terrace – the perfect spot for daytime and evening receptions.
