Two years after a catastrophic warehouse fire destroyed the core of its operations, Visual Architects– one of the UK’s leading immersive design, prop rental and experiential production studios, is marking a powerful milestone. The business has not only rebuilt, but doubled in size, expanded its leadership team with the appointment of three new directors, and emerged stronger, more ambitious, and more creatively driven than ever.
The fire, which broke out in 2024 at the company’s Manchester warehouse, destroyed a significant part of Visual Architects’ headquarters overnight. Machinery, scenic builds and physical assets were lost, including bespoke fabrication materials, tools, equipment, technical infrastructure, and works in progress. Years of accumulated investment were wiped out in a single incident, placing live projects, client commitments, and the future of the business itself at serious risk.
For a company whose work is rooted in large-scale fabrication and physical creativity, the loss was devastating.
From Crisis to Comeback
In the immediate aftermath of the fire, Visual Architects faced the challenge of rebuilding almost every operational pillar at once- production capability, storage, logistics, systems and workflows, while continuing to deliver for clients under intense pressure.
Rather than pause, the company regrouped.
Over the following two years, Visual Architects undertook a full-scale recovery and reinvention programme. This included rebuilding fabrication capacity from the ground up, redesigning internal systems, investing in more efficient and sustainable production methods, and strengthening its leadership and delivery teams.
Since the fire, the company has:
● Rebuilt and expanded its production and fabrication capabilities
● Delivered some of the largest and most complex immersive projects in its history
● Won many industry awards and secured major new commissions
● Strengthened long-term client relationships and partnerships
● Invested in modular, reusable and sustainable scenic systems

As it marks the second anniversary of the fire, Visual Architects has announced plans for a major structural evolution. The business is laying the foundations to transition into three specialist companies operating under a unified group structure, a carefully phased transformation designed to improve scalability, resilience and long-term growth.
