1. Have you ever been called upon at short notice to supply products for an event? How did you handle the challenge?
Yes, one of our customers messaged us asking if we could deliver a large quantity of skewers the very next day. This happened over a bank holiday weekend, so couriers weren’t operating. Fortunately, we had enough stock ready to go and decided to deliver the order personally. It was a pleasure and great fun to see our customer so happy with the speedy service. We were even invited to attend the event as guests!
2. Can you share a time when you had to deliver more than originally quoted or step in to fix a last-minute supply issue?
Absolutely. We occasionally need to send more than a customer originally ordered, especially during the busy Q4 period. We’re always happy to help and carry ample stock that’s been quality control checked specifically to meet urgent or unexpected demand. As a family business, all our staff are relatives, and they’re always willing to pitch in even during weekends and holidays.
3. What inspired you to start supplying bamboo skewers to the events industry, and what gap were you aiming to fill?
We recognised a growing need for biodegradable alternatives at events, particularly to reduce plastic waste. That’s why we sourced strong, eco-friendly bamboo skewers ideal for BBQs and marshmallow toasting. Our paper straws also provide a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic straws.
4. What makes your bamboo products stand out compared to standard wooden or plastic alternatives?
Our skewers are biodegradable, plastic-free, strong, and longer than standard options making them ideal for BBQ use without the risk of burns. Bamboo is also a highly sustainable material and suitable for a range of uses.
5. Can you share an example of a memorable event where your skewers played an essential role?
Our skewers were used at a vibrant street party, which became a joyful community celebration. It brought together people from all backgrounds a beautiful reminder of the power of events to unite.
6. How do your products support event organisers in meeting sustainability goals or hygiene standards?
Our products are entirely plastic-free, biodegradable, and recyclable. Additionally, our paper straws are individually wrapped, providing extra hygiene reassurance, especially in busy event environments.
7. Have you seen any quirky or creative uses of your skewers beyond food service?
Yes! Some customers have used them as plant supports, and they’ve even been used to protect plant pots from foxes digging them up. They’re surprisingly versatile.
8. What do you love most about working with the events industry, and what’s been your proudest moment so far?
We love that the events industry brings communities together to celebrate life’s memorable moments. One of our proudest moments was seeing photos of our products in use at customer events, proudly featured on their websites it was a real “wow” moment for us.
