Yorkshire Agricultural Society – Spotlight on Venues with Exceptional Outdoor Space

Home to the UK’s premier agricultural show, the Great Yorkshire Show, the 250-acre Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate is set in stunning Yorkshire countryside just outside the beautiful spa town of Harrogate.

Overlooking the beautiful Crimple Valley, the Great Yorkshire Showground features enchanting woodlands, a picturesque White Pavilion bandstand and benefits from great transport links and thousands of free car parking spaces, making it the ideal venue for all occasions at its award-winning event spaces, Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC) and Pavilions of Harrogate.

Yorkshire Event Centre is one of the largest event spaces in the North with 6,270m2 of versatile space. Its excellent location, and facilities led by a dedicated events team, means it has firmly established an industry-leading reputation. It hosts a wide range of events from popular consumer shows to corporate events, conferences, exhibitions and gala dinners and is driven by its ethos to offer the very best service, food and facilities with a warm Yorkshire welcome.

Environmentally conscious too, YEC uses solar panel heating, LED lighting and none of its waste goes to landfill. Even the loo doors are made of recycled plastic. It has two cafes and a Changing Places facility to help make events more accessible.

Pavilions of Harrogate is a 13-room, award-winning event space which caters for a diverse range of smaller events from glittering awards dinners to exhibitions and conferences. Throughout the year it is an ideal venue for conferences, charity balls, corporate meetings, product launches, weddings, christenings, birthday parties, public sales and exhibitions. If it’s a remembrance event or funeral, be assured that Pavilions of Harrogate handles these occasions sensitively and appropriately to ensure ii runs smoothly.

Whether you are heading to Pavilions of Harrogate or YEC, the Great Yorkshire Showground is easy to reach, just two miles from Harrogate Train Station where there are six trains from London a day, and just 14 miles from Leeds Bradford Airport. For those living nearby, the Showground is based on a cycle path.

Uniquely, profits generated by Pavilions of Harrogate and YEC go to registered charity, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) enabling it to spend more than £500,000 a year on its charitable activities.

YAS works year-round to support and promote farming families and British agriculture, and inspire the next generation about all things farming, food and the countryside.

YAS does this by organising events like the Great Yorkshire Show which takes place for the 165th occasion on Tuesday 9th July to Friday 12th July 2024, its family-friendly Springtime Live event each year and Countryside Days, an annual two-day hands-on educational event for schoolchildren.

YAS funds various farming networks to support people who live and work in farming. The Yorkshire Rural Support Network promotes and provides emotional, practical, medical and financial support. Future Farmers of Yorkshire provides personal and professional development opportunities for its 1,000-plus members. The Yorkshire Food Farming and Rural Network champions the needs of farming, agri-food, rural businesses and rural communities, and the Farmer Scientist Network brings science and farming together to underpin agricultural innovation.

Businesses and events held at the Great Yorkshire Showground contributed £73.7m to the economy in 2019, according to independent research by Pegasus Group, so whether you are booking your event at Yorkshire Event Centre or Pavilions of Harrogate, you are supporting Yorkshire’s agricultural communities, helping YAS to develop an environment where farming, food and the countryside thrives and grows.
