The Whova team was delighted to take two awards back to their office in San Diego: Best Event App and Best Event Networking Technology. This is the fourth year Whova has picked up an Event Technology Award, but the first time they have won the coveted Best Event App category.

Whova spun off from a research group at the University of California, San Diego in 2013 to offer an all-in-one event management solution and mobile app for conferences. As a seasoned event organiser, Yuanyuan Zhou, CEO of Whova, understood the need to develop a technology that would both streamline the event organiser workload and improve the attendee experience.

Today, the Whova app is the highest-rated event app and has supported over 4 million event organisers and attendees at conferences, trade shows, and expos. Organisers can use the app to manage session attendance and engage their attendees. The Matchmaking and Community Board features are popular for attendees who want a new way of creating meaningful connections and social activities before events have even started.

Whova’s rapid growth is a direct result of the trust the company has developed with its international client base, which includes Microsoft, Adidas, the United Nations, U.S. Bank, and Stanford University. Receiving the Event Technology Awards rounds out a successful year and acknowledges the company’s push for innovation.

Zhou commented, “We’re so proud that Whova has won the Event Technology Awards for the fourth year in a row. We’re grateful to our customers, our users, and our team — not to mention the ETA organisers.”
