University of Westminster event design lecture series is back

Event design and its intersection with event technologies is an often discussed topic amongst event professionals. Professionals wanting to know more about event design and technology have the opportunity to attend a series of free lectures at the University of Westminster this autumn.

The School of Architecture and Cities will be hosting the Event Design Lecture Series on Monday evenings at their central London Marylebone campus from 7th October 2019 to 9th December 2019. The lecture series sees ten experts exploring various design and technical approaches to creating immersive live experiences.

The University of Westminster initiative is being supported by Event Industry News, Protec European Events and Event Tech Lab. Professor Harry Charring Head of Architecture and Cities stated; ‘This is a great initiative. The university sees this as an important opportunity to share our design and technological expertise and engage with the events industry and professionals in this growing sector”. 

The lectures and dates are:

7th October: Colja Dams, Vok Dams, Germany – Agile Event Design.

14th October: David Ball, Brandfuel, UK – Evolving Event Design.

21st October: Chris Ford, OBO, UK – Stage, Set Design and Performance.

4th November: Carina Bauer, IMEX Exhibitions:  Designing Participant Journeys.

11th November: Sarah Haywood, Sarah Haywood – Celebratory Design.

18th November: Mungo Dennison, NEWSUBSTANCE – Creating The Extraordinary.

25th November: Marcis Ziemins, Skudras Metropole – Immersive Gastronomic Experiences.

2nd December: Tracy Halliwell MBE, London & Partners – Designing Destination Attractors AND Prof Graham Brown, University of South Australasia – Eventscapes.

9th December: Adam Parry, Event Tech Live – Tech Trends on a Budget.

The varied programme curated by Dr James Morgan, Principal Lecture in Event Design and Technology invited experienced designers, innovators, production and technical directors from award winning innovative companies and institutions from Australia, Germany, Latvia and the UK to share their knowledge with both students and event professionals. The lecture series is open to all. 

Morgan stated that “the university is very keen to engage with industry professionals and to assist them to further their knowledge in events design and technology. It is also an opportunity for students from other academic disciplines within the university and students from other institutions who have an interest in live experience design to find out about the nuts and bolts of event design”
