Feel The Force Day, the only fully accessible comic and fan event in the world, is moving to the East of England Arena and Events Centre, for its 7th edition on October 5, 2019. Feel The Force Day began as a small event in Peterborough in 2013 and since then the show has grown steadily in size and stature, to reach an anticipated 8000 visitors this year, who will be arriving from all over the country as well as flying in from North America, Europe and the Far East.

Simon Howard, co-founder and organiser of Feel The Force Day, explained the attraction of the event, saying, “It’s based on an understanding that the mainstream fan conventions don’t necessarily provide a great environment for fans with disabilities, whether it’s practical issues like having extra wide aisles, or less visible features like a calm, softly lit ‘chill-out’ area. Our event is all about understanding, in every respect.”

“We have all the same attractions as a typical fan convention,” Howard elaborated, “but with a fully supportive environment and atmosphere built-in to the event. We rely on our venue, volunteers, celebrity guests and merchandise sellers all working together to make the event accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for every visitor. From the keeping a low average price for tickets and merchandise, to providing tactile as well as visual browsing opportunities, true accessibility means so much more than wheelchair ramps and lifts.”

With strong ticket sales online already, Howard is anticipating yet another record breaking event, “We’ve always been, and will always be, a Peterborough event, so East of England Arena was clearly the next step. What I hadn’t fully anticipated were the many extra options and features that now become possible, thanks to the Arena’s variety of features and facilities. It’s giving us plenty of ideas for the future of Feel The Force Day,” he said.

Dean Rees, EEAEC business development manager, welcomed The Feel the Force Day Teams’s decision saying, “It gives us great pleasure to be able to offer a new home to Feel The Force Day, it’s an outstanding and unique show that we are delighted to support. We are very much looking forward to welcoming all the fans and enthusiasts this October.”
