twine, a remote first startup focused on delivering networking experiences for virtual events and remote teams, today announced new investments from Maven Ventures, Zoom Ventures, and PeopleTech Angels along with additional investments from existing investors Moment Ventures, Coelius Capital, Aaron Schwarz and others.  The details of the financing were not disclosed.

The company also announced that its twine App for Zoom is now available to Zoom Events customers to help drive attendee networking within Zoom Events.

twine for Zoom, an app now available on the Zoom App Marketplace, allows Zoom Events customers to seamlessly add a variety of guided networking experiences, including one to one, small group, tag based, spatial, and more to their events.  twine for Zoom makes it easy to enable serendipitous video conversations powered by advanced matchmaking logic, all without leaving Zoom Events or requiring additional logins.

Twine for Zoom leverages the Zoom Breakout Room APIs to deliver automated matchmaking and networking functionality to Zoom Meeting formats within Zoom Events.

“We’ve been extremely impressed with twine for Zoom, and believe it is a wonderful complement to Zoom Events’ core functionality,” said Joel Ndreu, Senior Product Manager at Zoom Events. “We believe Zoom Events customers will be able to create more engaging events by leveraging twine for Zoom’s seamless and thoughtful integration into the Zoom platform.”

twine for Zoom allows hosts to include networking experiences that emulate connections that take place at an in-person event, something that has been difficult to recreate online. With twine for Zoom, event hosts can foster meaningful connections in an efficient and targeted manner– all without leaving the Zoom platform.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Zoom Ventures to team twine, and to be working with the team at Zoom Events,” said twine CEO and Co-Founder Lawrence Coburn. “Virtual events and bringing people together online remain a crucial component of a post pandemic world, and Zoom’s reach and scale make them the single most important player in the category.”

twine for Zoom is free to use up to 25 attendees, and offers a variety of affordable pricing packages for virtual event programs big and small.
