Royal Holloway is a stunning conference and event venue. Immaculately preserved, the iconic Grade 1 listed historic Founder’s Building, built around two quadrangles, impresses as much by its size as by the exuberance of the roofline with its many turrets and towers. It provides a unique retreat for conferences, meetings and events as well as a perfect setting for functions, weddings and celebrations with numerous opportunities for stunning photographs.
Royal Holloway offers a plethora of flexible, state-of-the-art meeting rooms, many of which include exhibition, breakout and networking spaces alongside the main meeting room. All rooms are equipped with audio-visual facilities and free wifi, and a dedicated events team is on hand to provide support throughout every event.
The historic Picture Gallery boasts one of the finest private collections of Victorian art the country has to offer and is a popular choice for banquets of up to 120 people, while the original College Dining Hall is a perfect venue for a larger banquet, reception or party. With space for up to 180 seated guests, the vast, beautiful high ceilings with their ornate white fixtures and subtle décor provide the perfect backdrop on which to create a unique sense of occasion. Informative tours of the Picture Gallery can be arranged with the curator.
On fine summer evenings, the quadrangles, with the impressive façade of the Grade 1 listed Founder’s Building, are the ideal location for hosting a BBQ or drinks reception with plenty of space for outside seating. Guests can circulate between the quadrangles and the Crosslands Suite, a contemporary bar within the Founder’s Building, offering the perfect space for a band or DJ with a dance floor.
Catering
The venue offers a range of delicious food and drink options to suit every occasion from working breakfasts to three-course gala dinners. Prepared in-house by our award-winning team of chefs, the menus boast a diverse range of dishes to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements, featuring the very best in seasonal produce. A further five bars, cafés and restaurants across the campus, can provide an interesting alternative to event hospitality.
From June to September we have an excellent selection of over 2,500 en-suite and standard bedrooms, all conveniently located near to the meeting and catering facilities. The on-site guest house has an additional 24 en-suite bedrooms, which are available throughout the year.
Royal Holloway’s distinctive Founder’s Building and stunning grounds have proved to be a popular location in the production of a range of TV shows and film, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Downton Abbey, Celebrity Masterchef, Midsomer Murders and Antiques Roadshow. Filming at Royal Holloway is permitted during the student vacation periods and on certain weekends at other times of the year.
Team building and sport
Royal Holloway can host a variety of sporting groups, who can benefit from the multi-use sports hall as well as the floodlit outdoor pitches and courts which provide all-weather playing surfaces for a wide range of sports. The venue is located in 135 acres of parkland, providing an ideal outside space for team building activities.
Location
Conveniently located close to major transport routes means that travelling to and from Royal Holloway by car, bus or rail is easy. A shuttle bus service runs from the venue to Egham train station, located just a mile away from where there is a regular train service directly into London Waterloo and Reading. Buses to several destinations, including Heathrow, depart from right outside the venue’s main entrance. The venue is also very close to the M25, M3, M4, Heathrow and Windsor and there is ample free on-site car parking.
Royal Holloway’s history
Founded by self-made medicine multimillionaire Thomas Holloway, Royal Holloway College was inspired by the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley and started life as a college for women. The Founder’s Building was completed in 1886 and opened by Queen Victoria who bestowed the title ‘Royal’ to Holloway’s College. The first 28 female students arrived the following year.
