UBM, Visit and Poken by GES, Episode 1, EasyFairs and Event Tech Lab have announced the Start Up Clinic’s Class of 2018. After a rigorous application process that involved applications from event technology companies from around the world, 15 finalists were chosen for consideration for the class of four winning technology companies to be mentored in 2018.
The brand new initiative by UBM, Visit and Poken by GES, Episode 1, EasyFairs and Event Tech Lab is a vehicle to mentor and help develop the next generation of successful event technology companies. Start up companies from as far afield as Australia, Egypt, South Africa, Finland and Singapore applied for the scheme. 15 finalists were chosen and then whittled down to 4 winners – the Class of 2018.
The winners include UK-based Event Pro Finder; US-based Nvytes; Russian-based Radario and Canadian-based Snöball. Mentor Alison Church of Easyfairs is looking forward to working with Event Pro Finder as it’s “potentially a great tool for finding specialist staff with the right skills for our sector. We (the mentors) were really impressed by the development to date and particularly liked the staff ratings functionality”. Govind Sharma of UBM stated “Nvytes have a clear focus on the success of the exhibitors and growth of the event, both of which are of prime importance”.
Matt Coyne from GES EMEA says that “Radario has developed an exciting marketing automation platform that enables ticket sellers to truly understand their audience and how they can capitalise on that insight”; whilst Damian Lane from Episode 1 – the angle funding organisation – stated “I am looking forward to working with Snöball as it helps organisers grow and engage their audiences, by putting word of mouth promotion at the centre of their event marketing”.
The Class of 2018 will be mentored by experts within the sponsoring companies on their product proposition and development; pointing start ups in the right direction to succeed. The mentors will be collaborating with each company and building bespoke mentoring programmes that are individually suited to each companies needs and circumstances. They will meet with the start ups on a bi-monthly basis and there will also be the potential to trial suitable technologies in live situations at events.
