Swapcard, a leading event app and matchmaking platform powered by AI, announced that it has secured a three-year agreement with Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), three months after opening its office in Dubai.

Swapcard will work with the DWTC event teams to help them become more data-driven, while increasing attendees’ on-site efficiency and better measure exhibitors’ ROI. Gitex, DWTC’s flagship exhibition, will be the first event to use Swapcard’s engagement platform followed by Food Cluster (DWTC) and HR Summit (Informa).

Since its inception in 2014, Swapcard has worked with large exhibitions across the globe including Reed, Informa, Comexposium, GL events and many other premium organisers.

Swapcard first entered the United Arab Emirates as the event app provider for Step Conference, the largest experiential tech festival in the Middle East, for its 2019 edition. The show proved a success and confirmed the company’s decision to take Swapcard to the UAE.

For Swapcard CEO, Baptiste Boulard, entering the UAE event market has always been on the company’s radar and a long-anticipated goal.

He said, “The Middle East has a huge economy that’s focused on live experiences, hospitality and AI. Because of this, we see great opportunities here for the event industry. As a hub between Europe and Asia, we see Dubai becoming the Las Vegas of the Middle East for the event industry.”

Heading up the UAE office is Emma Wright, a graduate of Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in Events Management. Emma has been working in the event industry since 2011, holding various positions including event manager and account executive for event software companies.Emma commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining Swapcard as the team’s representative in Dubai. I’ve lived here for three years, working on digitising the event industry. The innovation and tech forward-thinking of this city is a perfect match for Swapcard’s advanced AI technology, which connects exhibitors with their ideal business prospects and helps attendees achieve their networking objectives.”
