Star Events supplies a significant majority of the infrastructure and ingenuity to Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, from the main entrance arches on one side of the site to the Great Oak Stage on the other. Between those points, 2018 Star highlights included:

Barclaycard Stage

Squeeze, Slydigs, Ride, Lisa Hannigan and The Twilight Sad were among the performers on the Barclaycard Stage, Stage 2, at British Summer Time Hyde Park. Adaptable to any environment, Star Events’ 17m, five bay Orbit structure, with its winsome wooden-style fascia, is built on scaff arranged front to back, which means the bass cabs can be tucked into the first bay making for a smaller footprint and more space for the audience.

Barclaycard Perk Park

Star Events used a mix of core products and ‘specials’ to build the Barclaycard Perk Park at British Summer Time Hyde Park. Clad in bespoke blue and white panels, the 30m x 30m structure incorporated two stairway towers set into the central core, with a lift for wheelchair users, and centred on a stage dive experience. Designed to replicate one of therock star moments, participants chose a song, hit the stage, replete with band, and made the jump, captured on video for posterity and social media. Barclaycard Perk Park also featured a roof terrace, an ice cream van and a huge raised grey deck area, with bleachers, serviced by an integrated bar.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Slow-mo experience

Star Events used two black, modified 40ft containers supported and surrounded by scaffold to construct the Samsung Galaxy S9 viewing platform in Hyde Park. The build also required Star to fit extensive bespoke black panelling inside and out, a wheelchair user lift and a rear walkway, with two stairwells integrated into the structure. Set to the north of the BST site, visitors enjoyed spectacular views from the gallery level before being captured by slow motion video in the internal space. The film was projected onto the 10m LED wall covering the front and sides of the experience, to stunning effect.

The Terrace

Star Events’ Vista system provides for The Terrace hospitality structure at BST Hyde Park, incorporating a viewing platform for wheelchair users and other impairment groups at the front. Five metres wider this year to accommodate an extra hospitality suite, the Vista structure also hosted Darren Strowger’s ‘Into the White’ campaign launch, a new tech platform raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust through the auction of contemporary art, which was curated by Jake Chapman.
