Slido has launched a new feature in its award-winning audience engagement tool designed to stimulate and support facilitated brainstorms and round table discussions.

The new Ideas feature, which now enters Beta following a limited access testing period, was created in response to customer feedback. It is expected to be used in numerous scenarios, including crowdsourcing ideas at conferences, facilitated round table discussions and ideas collection ahead of events. The new feature can also be used for a wide variety of internal team brainstorms on areas including objective setting, meeting agenda creation and many more.

Ideas allows meeting organisers to create a topic which participants can respond to by adding their ideas. The suggestions can be viewed on screen for all involved in the event to see. Participants can then upvote the various ideas being put forward and the most popular will rise to the top. Meeting attendees can also comment on ideas posted directly in Slido, creating a platform for lively discussion around topics proposed. Ideas can be submitted anonymously or attributed, according to personal preference and settings created by the organiser. The results of the brainstorm can be exported for future reference.

The Ideas feature is available immediately across a range of packages for all Slido users, including those with a basic free account.

For companies using the team collaboration hub Slack, the new Ideas feature can be accessed directly within Slack, thanks to Slido’s integration with the application.

Slido CEO Peter Komornik comments: “The new ideas feature is in response to growing client demand; people are always coming up with new, innovative ways of using Slido! Our aim is to provide an easy-to-use feature that supports lively discussion and helps speakers, conference MCs, team leaders and meetings facilitators to quickly see the most popular ideas. We’ve had some initial testing with customers and the feedback has been fantastic. We’re looking forward to seeing more creative uses for Slido to engage participants.”

New poll templates added

The ideas feature follows a number of other developments for Slido, including the launch of ‘poll templates’, designed to both inspire and save time during set-up for organisers and speakers. The poll templates, which can be easily duplicated and even amended, have been curated from real-life use-cases from both internal meetings and external events.

The fifty new poll templates have been broken into seven categories to reflect the broad range of applications for Slido: icebreakers; conferences; company meetings; team meetings; leadership meetings; training; and ‘just for fun’. The templates include multiple choice, open text and rating polls, allowing participants to give their opinions live and anonymously, while organisers can gather valuable insights and increase interaction.
