There are good business cards, wallet-friendly/unsmudgeable, and there are lots less good ones. At best it’s 1D information though. You copy the mobile number, email address, LinkedIn/Twitter handle onto your device, quite often more than once, and your digital journey doesn’t start until you’re over that big fence. Very 20th century.
Dutch tech company Shake-On has set about contemporising the business card with its eponymous hardware. A wristband that gives and gathers contact details/social media hooks for wearers and, ultimately, exhibition/conference/event organisers too.
An opt-in solution, Shake-On is tried and tested with any number of handshake styles, from the traditional to the fist bump. It works. And post-event, users receive an email synopsis of all the connections they made.
At the same time, data can be fed back to the organisers, and exhibitors, to highlight the pinch points, brute numbers et al. So the system can serve as a tool to highlight prime positions in the room, which elements command the most attention and more besides.
The potential is there too for the likes of beer festivals, brand activations/ experiential events, to provide/swap data between e.g. brewers and drinkers.
It could find a place on the festival map, benefitting ticketholders, sponsors, bands, agents, promoters and organisers. You can synch it with music streaming services. Shake-On is riddled with potential. Give it a big hand.
