The Scottish Event Campus has reached a milestone in its long-standing relationship with Trees for Life by donating 170,000 trees to the charity on behalf of clients.

Trees for Life, which celebrates 25 years of charitable status this year, aims to restore the wild forest of the Caledonian Forest, a globally unique habitat which has suffered from centuries of neglect and deforestation, but which once stretched from coast to coast.

The SEC established a relationship with the charity eleven years ago and has been spreading the word to clients from all around the world, resulting in the vast amount of tree donations over the years.

Contributions have been made on behalf of clients including Arbonne, World Federation of Hemophilia, Amazon and World Down’s Syndrome Congress amongst many others.

Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SEC, said: “Sustainability is increasingly at the forefront of everyone’s mind, so it’s great that clients can feel they can give back to the environment when they come to the SEC.

“Trees for Life is a fantastic organisation, aiming to restore the landscape which makes Scotland so unique. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with them for the past eleven years and look forward to seeing how our relationship grows in the future.”

Steve Micklewright, CEO of Trees for Life said: “The Caledonian Forest is a globally unique wild place. Creatures great and small call it home, from the golden eagle to the red squirrel, but centuries of deforestation have robbed them of their habitat. However, we are making real progress in the fight to save the forest thanks to the efforts of over 5,000 conservation volunteers and the generous support of our community of donors and members.

“Restoring one of Europe’s most iconic landscapes is a huge undertaking. It’s the contribution of home-grown Scottish brands like the SEC that makes our work in the forest possible, so I want to say a big hearty ‘thank you’ from everyone at Trees for Life for their sustained support for nature.

Client, Kelly Lloyd-Sanderson, UK Marketing and Events Director at Arbonne, said: “The dynamic bond between humans and nature is the essence of Arbonne. Our products utilise the best of what nature has to offer to improve our lives. We carefully source from all over the world, always with sustainability in mind.

“Trees for Life was an initiative we were delighted to be a part of when working with the SEC for our annual conference. The programme aligns so well with our brand values and company ethos and was a wonderful addition to be shared with our delegates.”
