A series of fundraising events will take place during August to help ensure Notting Hill Carnival returns to London’s streets in 2022.
The organisers previously announced the event, which had been planned for August 29 and 30, will not take physically take place this year due to the “ongoing uncertainty and risk Covid poses”.
Now it has been confirmed events celebrating the carnival’s culture and heritage will take place next month to help cover the costs of next year’s return event.
Between August 19-21, three ticketed shows will be held at Opera Holland Park with “traditional Carnival music performed within its beautiful open-air settings”.
The Carnival Culture In The Park events will showcase the best in both traditional and contemporary Caribbean musicians alongside traditional opera.
Matthew Phillip, Notting Hill Carnival Ltd chief executive, said: “This series of events and the book play an extremely important role in supporting the bands and participants of Notting Hill Carnival, raising vital financial support to bring Carnival back on the road in 2022 and beyond.
“Notting Hill Carnival belongs on the streets but the Covid pandemic presented too much uncertainty to plan for a safe event over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
“It also put bands in a difficult financial situation that had the potential to close them down, despite decades of history. This was not acceptable so we (the board of Notting Hill Carnival Ltd) took the very difficult decision to create alternate options for 2021.”
There will also be several free events taking place at The Tabernacle in Powis Square throughout August.
Also, a number of playlists and content showcasing the carnival culture will be available on Spotify.

In a statement the board of Notting Hill Carnival Ltd said: “Everyone involved in the event desperately wants a return to the road where Carnival belongs but safety has to come first and with the latest cautious announcement on the government’s ‘roadmap’, this is the only way to ensure that.”
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday and they are £10 each.
