Helping to drive a group of UK-based IACC members is just one of the new goals for Warwick Conferences’ business development manager, Gail Tomlinson-Short, after she was elected as one of eight directors who form a new team supporting IACC Europe’s board of directors.

Having previously supported IACC Europe with the organisation of its annual conference, Gail was officially voted by European venue members to become a director. One of IACC’s key roles is to promote best practice across the events and conference industry. In her new role, Gail aims to tap into these learnings together with a group of UK-based member venues set to convene regularly, which in turn will offer partaking members enhanced opportunities for networking, education and industry advancement.

Gail will be looking to take her learnings back to Warwick Conferences, which has already introduced a number of initiatives to help reduce its impact on the environment. Among the recent changes, Warwick Conferences has reduced single-use cups and plastic water bottles usage, while it continues to source ethical, fresh and local ingredients.

Gail Tomlinson-Short commented: “It is an honour to have been selected by our European members to sit on the European board and support the direction of IACC’s next chapter. I am looking forward to working with other teams across Europe and driving ways of implementing positive changes to the way events and conferences are run.

“I am positive that a dedicated UK member community holding regular meetings will allow us to disseminate key takings from our European meetings to local members who could not attend.”

Gail will be one of eight directors working with IACC Europe’s four-strong board of directors, which is led by President Lotta Boman. IACC is a global community of the brightest industry minds whose aim is to promote the IACC’s membership of best-in-class meeting venues.

IACC members have demonstrated a commitment to the highest standards in meeting and events space design, facilities, services, technology, and sustainability. IACC’s focus over the next few years will be sustainability and helping to reduce the impact events have on the environment.
