The Nationwide Caterers Association is delighted to announce that Jenny Morris MBE has joined the organisation as an advisor to the board on strategy and food safety. Regulating Our Future

Jenny’s wealth of experience at the top of the food safety world will help the Nationwide Caterers Association to respond to a changing environment in terms preparing for the Food Standards Agency’s Regulating Our Future programme, due for launch in 2020, while assisting us to deliver high quality, affordable solutions to our increasingly diverse membership portfolio.

On the one hand, we are experiencing a golden age of food innovation in the UK, often brought from far-flung shores or developed using modern techniques and equipment. Just as the production of and access to great food is being democratised, the FSA and local authority resources to support these small businesses is being diminished. Having access to Jenny’s expert knowledge and the practical application of it will enable these micro businesses to develop and grow in challenging times.

A Wealth of Experience

Jenny’s career spans outside catering, a restaurateur, microbiologist and an Environmental Health Officer, before working as Head of Policy for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Her experience includes advising the London Organising Committee (LOCOG) on food safety at the events for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, for which she received an MBE from the Queen.

Jenny will work alongside our Primary Authority partners, auditing the NCASS assured advice and ensuring that all of our training courses and due diligence systems are market leaders. She will also support NCASS’ work in advising and influencing government policy to ensure independent caterers have the platform to communicate their experiences to the Government. Jenny will help to develop the Environmental Health interface on NCASS Connect and help NCASS and our customers prepare for Regulating our Future (RoF).

“I’m delighted to be working with Jenny again. NCASS members can continue to expect a world-class product at a fraction of the cost.” Bob Fox, NCASS Chairman

Helping Small Businesses at a Personal Level

Jenny explained: “Having worked as a caterer and as an EHO, I can see it from both perspectives. When helping small businesses prepare for an inspection, it helps to remind them not to be scared; the EHO is not the enemy. I understand how hard it is to run a successful business as well as complying with all of the environmental and food safety regulations on top of this. NCASS provides practical and pragmatic solutions that help businesses sell great food while keeping them and their customers safe.”

“We hope that this appointment demonstrates to the food safety community and the wider catering industry that NCASS are committed to raising the bar on excellence and safety and making these solutions affordable to all food businesses.” Mark Laurie, NCASS Director
