British athletes dominated the Bolton Ironman competition yet again this year, assisted of course by EFS’s Temp-A-Path! For the men, Brian Fogarty, from Blackburn, swept away the competition to secure victory at the seventh attempt, finishing with a time of 09:27:12! The first female across the line was Emma Wardall, the winner of the military division, who managed a time of 10:39:48.

The organisers of the Ironman UK event in Bolton contacted Event Flooring Solutions when they need to provided a safe and secure transfer area from the swimming to cycling stages. EFS recommended their Temp-A-Path® product as the most suitable flooring solution for this critical element of the event. Following a 2.4 mile open water swim the athletes leave the lake and transfer to their bikes for a 112 mile cycle followed by a full marathon! So it was vital that the transition area was made safe when covered in water with athletes “sprinting” over it. Over 200m² of Temp-A-Path® was installed to create a safe and secure under foot surface from the lakeside to the transition area. This extreme sporting event attracted over 1,900 athletes from around the globe.

Jeremy Simpson – Managing Director of EFS commented “With such a demanding high profile athletic event, we knew that it was vital for our product to stand up to the critical demands of the terrain and weather conditions. We were delighted to be involved once again and to see great performances from these talented athletes”.
