Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, London’s premier festive event, has announced a new partnership with the Google Assistant and Google Pay to create an immersive new visitor experience.

For the first time in the event’s history, the 41 pods on the iconic observation wheel will be equipped with devices powered by the Google Assistant; a digital voice assistant that will enhance the visitor experience. The Big Wheel with a little magic from Google Assistant will bring the festive experience to life, playing visitors’ favourite Christmas songs and revealing fun facts about Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

Visitors with tickets to The Big Wheel will interact with the Google Assistant first hand as they move through a mystical space waiting for their turn. To interact with the Assistant, they simply say ‘Hey Google’ then add a command, such as ‘make it snow’ for a snow selfie, or ‘ask the winter elves to make me hot chocolate’ for a complimentary hot sweet treat.

As Hyde Park Winter Wonderland’s first Official Payment Partner, the Google Pay app will allow visitors to use contactless payment across the event. All purchases, from food and drink to accessing the rides and attractions, can be done via one simple tap of their phone. Whilst booking their favourite festive attractions at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, visitors can even speed through online checkout and store their e-tickets in Google Pay.

Stephen Flint Wood, SVP & Managing Director, Arts & Entertainment, IMG said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Google team to bring the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland experience to the next level. As the country’s leading festive event, we are always striving for innovative new ways to surprise and delight visitors and provide a seamless journey throughout. This year’s latest additions with Google Assistant and Google Pay will do exactly that.”

Calvin Lau, Head of Consumer Apps and Platforms UK Marketing, Google said: “Our products are built to help make everyday tasks easier; whether it’s playing music, setting an alarm by just asking the Google Assistant, or paying with a quick tap from Google Pay. We are excited to be working with Hyde Park Winter Wonderland this year to help enhance the visitor experience from start to finish.”

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland returns to London from 22 November 2018 – 6 January 2019, with a host of new and favourite attractions. These include The Big Wheel with a little magic from Google Assistant, Ice Rink with Sky Kids, Magical Ice Kingdom presents The Secret Forest, Backyard Cinema’s The Snowman™ Experience, Bar Hütte, Bar Ice, Zippos Christmas Circus and Cirque Berserk, Ice Sculpting Workshops, Peter Pan On Ice, Teletubbies Christmas Show and the Winter Wonderland Comedy Club.
