GL events UK will once again be supporting the Ryder Cup this year, with an infrastructure agreement that will see the company complete the first ever triple-deck temporary structure in France, the host country of the event this year.

This is the third time GL events UK has been commissioned to install temporary structures and grandstand seating for the event. The company agreed a multi-year partnership with the Ryder Cup last year, with the intention to continue its support for the event over the long term. The aim of the partnership is to deliver innovative solutions. This year’s competition, the 42nd Ryder Cup, will take place at the Golf National in St Quentin en Yvelines, France, 25 – 30 September 18. The globally recognised tournament brings together the world’s top players for five days of excitement and emotion.

Edward Kitson, Match Director of The 2018 Ryder Cup commented, “The Ryder Cup is one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, and the attending spectators play a huge part in that. This seating grandstand will use a reverse-wrap corner system that will be unveiled at the event. It will be able to seat 6,900 people, around the 1st tee and 18th Green, and will provide a sensational viewing point. It is sure to create one of The Ryder Cup’s most exciting atmospheres.”

GL events UK will also be providing a full range of temporary structures and high-end grandstands to receive spectators. Turnkey infrastructures will be installed for the operational and administrative teams, as well as several visitor areas, including multi-storey VIP hospitality pavilions, temporary retail stores and dining areas throughout the event village.

“This is a brilliant contract for us, the team at the Ryder Cup challenge us continually to be more creative, innovative and bring fresh solutions to the infrastructure at the event,” commented Scott Jameson, GL events UK Group Managing Director. “Everything they do is centred on creating an unforgettable spectator experience, whether in the grandstands or the corporate hospitality areas, we’re delighted to be part of delivering this ambition.”

In partnering with the Ryder Cup once again, GL events strengthens its position as a global leader in delivering imaginative, high-quality event infrastructures.
