GL events UK has extended its long-standing partnership with Lancashire Cricket, with a support programme that has increased spectator capacity at the club’s home, Emirates Old Trafford, for a summer of high-profile international cricket.

For the past six years, GL events’ seating team has worked extensively with Lancashire Cricket, enabling the club to expand and contract the size of its venue in keeping with the different cricket and special events it attracts throughout the year. This summer will see the arrival of both the ICC Cricket World Cup and the 4th Specsavers Ashes Test – two of the biggest events in world sport.

With Emirates Old Trafford playing a major part in both events, the partnership with GL events has, for this season, seen the stadium install the biggest single temporary grandstand in the ground’s history, at a height of 21m, which consists of 8,556 seats across 71 rows, and 12 sets of internal staircases.

2019 marks the second year that the club has installed this grandstand design, which, as with all GL events seating products, also utilises the company’s premium seating design, with higher sightlines, noise-reducing frames, and more comfortable seats for spectators.

“We love working with Lancashire Cricket, and this is a really special summer of cricket, where the ground will be one of the leading venues for arguably the sport’s two largest events,” commented Scott Jameson, GL events UK group managing director. “The club works incredibly hard to ensure the very best spectator experience, and their investment in this stand and the quality of seating being offered really demonstrates this.”
