Specialist event and hospitality caterer GIG, part of the Global Infusion Group, has been at the centre of a media frenzy this week, as photos of the personalised shepherd’s pies the team prepared for Rolling Stones legends’ Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards have gone viral!

It was reported in The Sun at the beginning of March that shepherd’s pie is in Keith Richard’s contract and that it has long featured in the band’s rider. The story went on to say that he insists that he has the first slice and is often known to tell fellow band members ‘not to bust his crust man.’ As the official tour caterer for the Rolling Stones’ current UK tour, GIG has been cooking the pies at each of the venues.

The media furore began when both Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards posted a picture of the pies on their twitter feeds earlier this week and the story was featured in the Daily Mail and the Daily Mail online. Chris Evans then went on to mention to the newspaper coverage on his Radio 2 breakfast show on Thursday 7thJune. Today (Friday 8thJune) the Rolling Stones’ official twitter account posted to its 3.3 million followers: UK! Tune in to ITV’s @thismorning for 12:15pm as they’ll be recreating @officialKeef’s touring Shepherds’ Pie! 😊#dontbustthecrust.

GIG’s global operations director, Bonnie May comments: “We were thrilled when Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards initially tweeted the photos of the shepherd’s pies, clearly they’ve been enjoying them! Delivering a band’s rider to a high standard is exactly the reason why we’ve been so successful in tour catering for the last 30 something years. We thought the personalised pie dishes would be a nice touch but didn’t expect to see them in national newspapers. Our chef, Chris Carter, who has been cooking the pies since the tour began has checked out the recipe This Morning’s chef, Phil Vickery used and reckons there are a few secret ingredients missing!”
