GES EMEA has announced significant progress on its sustainability journey, achieving an 8.5% year-on-year reduction in carbon emissions despite continued business growth across the region.

The results, revealed in the company’s latest Impact Report, demonstrate that sustainable growth is possible at scale. During the reporting period, GES increased its global workforce by 15% and supported 12% more exhibitions and events across the EMEA region, while continuing to reduce its environmental footprint.

Most notably, GES has now achieved a 23% reduction in emissions compared with its 2023 baseline year, placing the business firmly on track to meet its commitment under the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030.

The report highlights a year of investment, innovation and operational improvements across the business, alongside the continued development of sustainable products and services designed to help clients reduce the environmental impact of their events.  “Our latest Impact Report demonstrates that growth and sustainability can go hand in hand,” said Kate Holliday, Head of ESG at GES. “Reducing our emissions while supporting more events, employing more people and expanding our services is a significant achievement and would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of our partners.”

Alongside its environmental achievements, the report also highlights the company’s growing social impact. During the past year, GES strengthened partnerships with organisations including The National House Project and The Connection Crew, supporting employment opportunities and community initiatives that create positive outcomes beyond the events industry.

While celebrating the progress made to date, GES acknowledges that its sustainability journey is far from complete. The company remains focused on driving further emissions reductions, developing innovative sustainable event solutions and working with industry partners to build a more responsible future for events.
