Celebrated pop-punk triple-header Slam Dunk has outgrown its home in the south, at Hatfield Forum, and goes greenfield for the first time this May Bank Holiday weekend.

“The university licence was for 9,999 and we couldn’t physically fit more people in there,” founder/organiser Ben Ray tells Event Industry News. “Thankfully we were able to find a new site locally at Hatfield Park.”

Winner of Best Metropolitan Festival at the Festival Awards 2017, Slam Dunk is Saturday in Leeds city centre, Sunday in Hatfield and Bank Holiday Monday in Birmingham, stages inside and out based on bricks and mortar, until now. The step onto grass is a product of success and the organiser’s creativity.

“A lot of places it’s a quick in and out, public car parks for example. In that sense the new Hatfield site is real luxury. We can go in days before,” Ray says. “And it’s a one day event so I don’t anticipate much damage to the ground.”
