EventWell has announced that it will be launching its new mental health first aid training courses during this year’s Event Wellbeing Week, #EventWell19, taking place Monday 16th to Friday 20th September.

The new MHFA two-day course, held on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th September, will see attendees who complete become qualified mental health first aiders, and earn a certificate from MHFA England.

Gavin Percy of Winning Edges, who has also run MHFA courses for the Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA), will deliver the course. He decided to specialise in Mental Health First Aid Training following some mental health issues close to him.

Winning Edges aim is to improve attitudes to mental health in the workplace, in addition to morale, loyalty, productivity and employee wellbeing, and EventWell are working in partnership to deliver these essential open courses to event professionals.

Helen Moon, managing director of EventWell said, “I get asked regularly what change I would like to see in the workplace to assist with increasing levels of mental health issues and stress experienced by event professionals, and my answer has always been to see mental health first aiders in businesses working alongside physical health first aiders, and in the very near future to see this as part of an employer’s legal duties under the health and safety regulations.

I am therefore, delighted to be working with Gavin and Winning Edges to offer these new open courses, and see this as a major move by EventWell to assist employers and businesses to take that serious step towards dealing with mental health issues in the workplace.”

The chosen charity for this year’s event wellbeing week and #EventWell19 campaign has been confirmed as the mental health charity, Mind, and a proportion of all tickets for this course will be donated to help support the vital work that Mind do to ensure that every person with a mental health problem receives the support and respect that they deserve.
