The Mock Trial in this series was organised by A.C.T. (National) Ltd, in partnership with IOSH Sports Grounds and Events Group and Magdalen Chambers.

Taking place at the Priory Rooms in Birmingham earlier this year, the trial focussed on the legal process behind events prosecutions, responsibility and liability under the Health & Safety at Work Act.

Run by practising criminal barristers, this event provided a realistic view of the court procedure, giving attendees the chance to act as a member of the jury. The trial details the process when a criminal prosecution is brought to court, first hand. Closing with a discussion of the verdict and its implications, it also provided an opportunity to question the legal team and network with fellow professionals.

The trial involved Barristers, a Judge, an Event Organiser, an Inspector, A Safety Advisor and Witnesses.

All the facts, evidence and statements are fictitious; any resemblance to any real prosecution, event, contractor or civil action is purely coincidental.
