Event City, the north’s largest blank canvas exhibition and multipurpose event venue, served up a culinary delight to over 350 people whilst on its UK-wide agent’s tour to showcase its new in-house catering offering, The Kitchen, alongside the venue’s exhibition, conference, gala dinner and small meeting facilities.

Whilst on the tour, which took place from 2 – 20 July, Executive Chef Simon Mason and The Kitchen team sourced food ingredients from local and regional farms and shores wherever possible, including Oldham, Stockport, Lancashire, Preston, Lincolnshire, Lancashire and Suffolk.

A varied menu of meals were served to agents using carefully selected ingredients, including maple smoked bacon served with sun blushed tomatoes and crushed avocado on artisan rolls; torched tortilla with griddled chicken; haloumi with cured Asian slaw, chipotle mayonnaise and sriracha jam; and Event City’s staple desert, Manchester Mess.

Food packaging, supplied by Vegware, was made of 100% compostable cups and lids and takeaway boxes were made from low carbon-based materials. The straws used were also Oxo biodegradable.

Steven Cook, newly appointed F&B Director, EventCity, said: “Our new in-house catering offering, The Kitchen, can serve up to 3,500+ people, making us the first choice for large scale drinks receptions and banquets in the north. We are passionate about providing a bespoke menu to suit our clients’ requirements and we ensure that we support local and artisanal suppliers wherever possible. Therefore, it was crucial that while on tour, as in our day to day operations, we sourced high-quality products locally and supported local businesses.”

Simon Jones, Sales Director, EventCity, said: “We’re delighted that the tour was such a success. It has been a fantastic opportunity to introduce our new in house catering offer, whilst getting to know our clients, their requirements and industry challenges. As we continue to further our services to provide inspirational event solutions, we are delighted with the positive feedback we’ve received and are looking forward to working with our existing and new partners to help them deliver showstopping events.”

Rachel Buswell, Account Manager, Sundial SOS, based in Northampton, said: “It was great having EventCity with us for the day. The knowledgeable and friendly team told us all about the venue and explained its services and venue spaces in great detail. The presentation was followed by a wonderful afternoon treat, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We now feel we know a lot more about EventCity and are fully recommend it to our clients. We are very much looking forward to visiting soon.”

Laura Dudley, National Account Manager, arrangeMY, based in Worcester, said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome the EventCity Team into the arrangeMY offices. The team pitched up in the blazing sun and prepared a delicious feast for our teams to enjoy at lunchtime, and we found very useful being able to sample the food. It was refreshing to meet some of the operational team at EventCity, not just sales, giving us a full understanding on how we can work together in future.”

EventCity is a 28,000-square metre flexible and versatile venue space located in TraffordCity, the foremost destination in the UK, giving the venue’s visitors access to 3.5 million square feet of retail, leisure and entertainment, including 15,000 free parking spaces within a 15-minute walk.
