Last year, we were joined by the director of international events at TechCrunch, Leslie Hitchock, and the COO and co-founder of Brella, Jykri Paananen. They described the collaboration between their two companies and the subsequent product, CrunchMatch.

Starting out as a blog, TechCrunch developed from a web-based publication to creating networking events all over the world. These events would grant start-up companies the opportunity to meet with each other and with investors.

Leslie described how she wanted people to have a better way of utilising networking events, suggesting there is little point attending one if you don’t know who will be there and why they would make a good contact.

“CrunchMatch takes the guesswork out of meeting people you really want to meet”. Created by Brella and TechCrunch, this online mobile app allows users to create profiles, message with likeminded founders and investors, and schedule meetings. Disrupt, the networking event created by TechCrunch, now hosts an area specifically for CrunchMatch users, allowing them to take meetings there and then.

After explaining the logistics and technicalities of the app, Leslie and Jykri encourage questions from the audience and leave with a few final remarks on TechCrunch and Brella.

Event Tech Live, Europe’s only free-to-attend show dedicated to event technology, will return on 6th and 7th November 2019 at the Old Truman Brewery. To receive updates, please register here.
