Event Tech Live 2018 welcomed senior digital marketing director, Brecht Fourneau, to the Conference and Creativity stage to present his best practices for using technology at events.

Technology is essential to an event before it has even begun: marketing, online registration processes and emails are vital to let people know about your event, book to attend and communicate with organisers.

Poor technology (or poor uses of it) risks the organisation’s reputation and discourages attendees and suppliers. Brecht used the registration process as an example: if 404 error pages appear after attendees have just registered (particularly if they have paid to register) does not incite trust.

Registration should be quick, easy and as painless for the prospective attendee as possible.

Brecht drew examples from other beneficial uses of tech to convey his top tips to event organisers. Moving on from registration, he discussed engagement, audience experience, and event apps, and demonstrated how technology can be used in each of these facets to enhance an event.

Lastly, technology can be used to inform organisers on audience-data as well as the quality of the event.

Event Tech Live, Europe’s only free-to-attend show dedicated to event technology, is returning to the Old Truman Brewery from 6th-7thNovember. To register for updates, please see here.
