Before jumping straight back into the trial after a short break, prosecuting barrister, David Campbell, took some time to answer questions from the audience.
He also used the time to clarify why health and safety is more than merely having the relevant documents in the office. He explained it matters very little whether your employees say they understand the health and safety regulations, but whether you as an employee are satisfied that they understand them.
The case of the defence kicked off with building contractor, Chris Woodford, taking to the dock. He revealed why and how certain contractors come to work for him, stating his hires were usually the produce of “word-of-mouth”.
The defence also explored the working relationship between Woodford and fellow witness, Mark Bowers, determining that the two men had had a personal friendship over the past four to five years.
