The final day of Cvent Connect drew to a close last night after enjoying three days with event professionals from around the globe.

The annual event gathers professionals from within the meetings, events and hospitality sectors to encourage debate, exchange best practices and share experiences.

Brian Ludwig, the senior vice president of sales from Cvent, said: “Today is all about educating people as well as showcasing our latest technology. We’ve used almost all of our own tech at this event – lead capture tools, RFID badges, our mobile app, for example.”

This year marks the third edition of Cvent Connect Europe and numbers have already proven much higher than last year. Senior vice president and marketing officer, Patrick Smith, commented on the turnout: “We didn’t really do that much extra marketing: this is organic growth. We sold out of supplier stands months ago and we still had people on the phone requesting a stand.”

Graham Pope, head of European hospitality said: “Demand increased so we had to too. Next year, we’re returning to the InterContinental O2 but after that, we might struggle to find a venue big enough!”

Commenting on the Extinction Rebellion protests that have taken place over the course of the event, Smith said: “Some people might have struggled getting here today but, as an event organiser, you have to roll with any mishaps or roadblocks. Whether it’s travel delays or the weather, you have to take initiative in the face of disruptions!”

Baroness Karren Brady, MBE, kicked off the last day of the event with a powerful speech about creating success. To end the day, June Sarpong, MBE – the BBC’s first director of creative diversity – presented her best practices for working effectively against impediments.
