Regional office growth highlights increasing demand for technology-driven solutions to drive MICE business

Cvent, a market-leading meetings, events and hospitality technology provider, today announced the hiring of Graham Pope as head of European sales for its Hospitality Cloud platform, which offers hoteliers digital advertising and software solutions for their MICE business.

Pope has nearly 14 years’ experience in the event and software-as-a-service (SaaS) spaces and will be based at Cvent’s European headquarters in London. The news comes on the heels of the company’s recent announcement that it will double its headcount in Frankfurt and expand its employee base across Europe.

Pope will drive continued growth in Europe and support the company’s expansion into new and emerging markets. Pope and his team will look to develop and deepen relationships with both new and existing Cvent customers to address their needs and find new ways to support their MICE and corporate business goals.

Cvent hosts the largest online meeting and event venue sourcing website in the world, the Cvent Supplier Network, through which event organisers sourced more than 42 million room nights and USD $16 billion in meetings and events space in 2018.

Hotels advertise on the Cvent Supplier Network to meeting organisers and also use Cvent software solutions to operate their MICE business in an efficient, profitable manner. Marquee Cvent Hospitality Cloud clients include Hilton Worldwide, Meliá Hotels International, and InterContinental Hotels Group in addition to hundreds of independent and boutique hotels across the European region.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to join the Cvent team,” said Pope. “Our sourcing volume continues to grow at an incredible rate, and we’re adding thousands of new event organisers every month to our sourcing platforms; meaning ample opportunity for our hospitality clients to attract events to their properties and increase their MICE business. At the same time, our room block management and venue diagramming offerings help hoteliers delight organisers and maximise the profitability of that business. It’s an honour to be part of a company that is passionate about delivering world-class solutions that allow our clients to drive positive business results.”

Senior vice president of sales for Cvent Hospitality Cloud, Bharet Malhotra, commented: “Europe has always been an important hub for business meetings and events and as we have seen from our recent data on top meeting destinations, the region continues to grow in popularity.

“Hoteliers recognise the important role our digital marketing tools and software solutions play in their overall MICE strategy and their ability to attract their share of the growing market – nearly $19 billion of which will be sourced through our platforms this year.

“Graham’s wealth of experience and understanding of the marketplace means our European team can continue to deliver exemplary service while helping our clients reach new levels of success.”
