A.C.T. National Ltd is delighted to welcome Alan Tungate to the company where he will help to strengthen its professional event safety delivery, as well as develop the company’s crowd safety arm of the business.

Alan has an amazingly strong background as an operational manager, focussing on planning, command & control, risk assessment and crisis management. He has spent the last 10 years as the planning leader for sporting venues and street sporting events at the Metropolitan Police.

Alan is an expert in events licensing, safety advisory groups, contingency planning and special services of the police.

Operations director for A.C.T. National, Chris Woodford, commented, “I have known Alan for quite a few years having been collaborators in many safety advisory groups together and, for me, Alan is the perfect, all-round event safety consultant.

“Alan has studied hard over the years and he has achieved a 1st Class Honours Degree in crowd & safety management and has also been successful in gaining his NEBOSH National General Certificate. A safety diploma is already underway and, coupled with his many years’ experience at major events in the UK, Alan has a great second career ahead of him.”

Alan’s last role has seen him as the principle planning lead for the 2012 Olympic road race programme, Rugby World Cup 2015, World Athletics Championships 2017, two UEFA Champions League Finals at Wembley Stadium, the Tour de France ‘Grand Départ’ and last year’s Formula 1 London Showcase event. He was also the London lead for the Cricket World Cup.

His personal highlights include the annual NFL games and fan activations across the capital and, in 2014, working with the Royal Foundation to host the inaugural Invictus Games.

Alan commented: “I have worked in partnership with A.C.T. National at many world-class events and it demonstrates the highest possible standards of competence and professionalism.

“For the past 12 years, in my role as head of sporting event planning for the Metropolitan Police, safety and security have been my number one priority and I am delighted to be continuing that work within a truly dedicated team of professionals.

“I join the company at an exciting time, as appetite for entertainment and mass gathering events increases and work around roles and responsibilities of agencies develops rapidly. I look forward to bringing my academic and operational skills to bear as A.C.T. National develops its crowd management portfolio.”
