The International Centre, Telford is a stand out venue, centrally located in the heart of the Midlands and with a modern, unbranded interior – it really is the ideal home for large events.
Part of the Southwater Event Group, the venue comprises of an on-site production company and two hotels, with a further hotel within walking distance. Family owned and with an unrivalled attention to detail, our focus is firmly on our clients and achieving exceptional service for every event.
What unique selling points does The International Centre Telford have?
Simply – we are privately-owned and all of our services are in-house. Catering, housekeeping, production, logistics, security and accommodation booking are all managed by one team. This gives clients greater control of their event and confidence that we are all working towards one aim – to deliver excellent events.
Tell us about some of the events that have taken place in The International Centre Telford.
The International Centre hosts over 150 events each year covering corporate conferences and product launches, trade & public exhibitions, sporting events and competitions.
The venue is building a solid reputation for successfully hosting health sector association events. Recent wins include BASK (British Association for Surgery of the Knee), Royal College of Midwives, BSACI (British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology), British Oncology Pharmacy Association and the UK Dementia Congress
There have been wins in the trade exhibition market too with pet trade show PATS relocating from Harrogate in September.
Do you have contractors/suppliers that regularly service your events and if so, how have they lent their particular expertise to the development of your events?
The International Centre’s in-house catering team operates under the brand ‘Thyme’ and they have in-depth knowledge and vast experience in event and exhibition catering.
The Thyme team, work hand in hand with the Event Planning team and the client to ensure our menus are tailored to each and every event.
Production Company StagecraftUK are also part of Southwater Event Group and their knowledge of The International Centre is unrivalled. From conferences with multiple seminar streams to full exhibition supply and management, the StagecraftUK team adds their expertise to every event. Project Managers work alongside the catering and event planning teams to ensure a truly joined-up approach which ensures the client experience is a positive one.
How has The International Centre Telford developed in the last 5 years?
In 2011 we opened the latest phase of our development – a 1300sqm conference and event space which seamlessly links to the rest of the venue via a vast glass fronted concourse.
This new suite adds flexibility to the venue enabling multiple events to be hosted – each with dedicated entrances, car parks, registration and circulation areas to give an exclusive feel.
An annual capital investment budget for the venue and its supporting infrastructure of Group hotels, catering and production provision ensures that the venue stays ahead of the competition and offers a clean, modern and well-maintained venue for each and every event.
Are there any plans to develop The International Centre Telford over the next 5 years?
The International Centre has a dynamic and progressive management team who are always seeking ways to improve and enhance the venue offer.
As part of a master plan, developed in conjunction with the local council, there are plans to add yet more hotels within a short walk of the venue – giving organisers and delegates more convenience, choice and availability.
What strategies does The International Centre Telford employ to support events taking place within it?
From planning meetings and food tastings, to event de-briefs once the event is over, the venue team – at every level – work with organisers to understand the event objectives and find ways we can best help those objectives to be achieved.
Each event is assigned a dedicated Event Manager who works on the event from the outset through to event completion.
We believe strongly that this uninterrupted service offered by a dedicated Event Manager who knows the event inside out offers the support, comfort, knowledge, and direction that every great event needs.
