Event Industry News’ co-founder, Adam Parry, was invited to offer his understanding and experience in the event industry at a recent ‘lunch & learn’ event organised by Shocklogic, ICC Belfast and Visit Belfast. He spoke alongside the Director of Sales & Marketing at ICC Belfast, Oonagh O’Reilly.

Welcoming event associations and fellow peers to the Royal College of Physicians, the conference aimed to create a discussion around the current challenges of event technology.

Encouraging questions and topics of discussion from the audience, the sessions deliberated gamification, data organisation, system integration and participant engagement.

Johnny Martinez, the head of marketing and business development at Shocklogic, commented on the day: “Today shows that people struggle with basic tasks and understanding on how they can utilise technology better.”

The event revealed event professionals manage data on various platforms, providing several solutions to each problem. This created a foundation of deep discussion throughout each session as industry experts compared notes on how they tackled different problems.

Commenting on her role during the event, Oonagh O’Reilly said: “I was invited here to explain how we went from being an analogue business to taking a digital-first approach to entertainment and driving up ticket sales and how this transferred to our conferences and helping our associations drive up the number of attendees.”

Other areas of discussion included registration, data integrity, emailing issues and conference apps.
