GES tackles event measurement with new offering

GES, a global full-service provider for live events, announced the launch of GES Measurement & Insight, solving a problem that has plagued the marketing industry for decades: how to holistically and accurately assess the impact of live events, activations and exhibits. GES is introducing a proprietary, standardised methodology that analyses four key metrics to tie event performance to business outcomes. AEV reveals industry growth with publication of SASiE report

PLANTWORX moves to East of England Arena in 3 show agreement

The Construction Equipment Association (CEA) has announced the venue and dates for their next PLANTWORX trade show. It will be held at the East of England Arena and Events Centre, Peterborough, on 11th, 12th, 13th June 2019. The last two editions of the biennial event for the construction equipment industry were held at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, near Lutterworth. PLANTWORX 2017 attracted 400 exhibitors and an attendance of c.13,000. The East of England venue is a permanent exhibition centre which has hosted other ‘big machine’ events such as LAMMA (for agricultural equipment) and Truckfest.

Bauer Media completes acquisition of The Big One, the UK’s biggest fishing event

The Bauer Media Group has acquired the UK’s biggest fishing show, The Big One. The Big One is held annually each spring in Farnborough, and attracts almost 20,000 enthusiastic anglers who attend the most important event on the angling calendar. The acquisition complements and strengthens Bauer’s market leading angling media business which already interacts with 600,000 anglers each month through its portfolio of magazines, digital editions, social media and websites.

ExCeL London reports strong start to 2018

ExCeL London is reporting a strong start to 2018, with a series of new events relocating to the venue. Shows relocating from Olympia to ExCeL include Learning Technologies (a showcase of organisational learning and the technology used to support learning at work) and Employee Benefits Live, which will be taking place in October. Bridal Trade and White Gallery, which was previously held at Battersea Evolution, also aims to grow their event by moving to ExCeL.

Museum of Science & Industry launches ROBOTS DDR

The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), Manchester, has released a series of special events packages to correspond with the arrival of ‘ROBOTS’ the critically acclaimed exhibition, taking residence at the venue into the spring. R2-D2 Daiquiris and Sea-3PO fish cakes are all on offer for event organisers looking for a bigger experience around their meetings and events. The Museum of Science, part of Lime Venue Portfolio, has created a day delegate and dinner delegate rate that complement the backdrop of ROBOTS. The exhibition consists of a unique collection of over 100 robots, from a 17th century dancing wine goblet and an animatronic baby, to Maria from the 1927 film classic Metropolis, and a news-reading android from Japan.

Contemporary Art Fairs choose Sandown Park for first Surrey show

Sandown Park Racecourse will host the brand new Contemporary Art Fairs – Surrey on 23rd–25th February 2018. Taking place in Sandown’s Surrey Hall the event, which runs alongside sister shows in Windsor and Reading, expects to attract more than 3,500 visitors.

Corporate Event Buyers increase by 25% at the London Summer Event Show

The London Summer Event Show returned for its fourth edition on 23 - 24 January at central city venue Banking Hall. It was the 8th event in organiser Story Events boutique event exhibition series (which also includes the London Christmas Party Show). This year saw record visitor numbers, as they welcomed 905 unique event buyers through the doors over the two-day event. Corporate Event Buyers saw the most impressive increase, with 670 in attendance representing a 25% rise compared to the last event.

Tea & Coffee World Cup launches UK event at the NEC

The NEC is preparing to host the Tea & Coffee World Cup as it comes to the UK for the first time over 3-5 September 2018. The three-day event is the only international trade show that brings together the entirety of the industry’s supply chain from bean and leaf to cup. Readers of the Tea & Coffee Trade Journal voted to hold the event in the UK to follow on from a successful three years in Singapore and Poland and will welcome over 100 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors. Megan Freeman, Events Manager from Bell Publishing said: “We wanted to change the location of the Tea & Coffee World Cup so we put the question of where we should host the event out to the industry, and the UK was the clear winner.

ExCeL London announces restructure to Marketing and Communications team

ExCeL London has restructured its Marketing and Communications team with a commitment to intentionally design and deliver an outstanding guest experience. Lucy Merritt has been promoted to Head of Marketing and Communications, with overall responsibility for the marketing team, reporting directly to Acting CEO Jeremy Rees. Lucy has been with ExCeL for almost 15 years and brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise.
